Fiat was founded in Turin under the name Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino in 1899. In 1922, Fiat established its own import company in Germany, thereby making the country one of Fiat’s first overseas markets. Today, Fiat Group Automobiles Germany AG is located in Frankfurt am Main and is responsible for the brands Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Fiat Professional, Abarth, Jeep and Mopar. The Fiat Group Automobiles has about 360 employees in Germany, and in 2013 the company achieved a turnover of EUR 1.7 bn with the sale of 96,000 vehicles. Its distribution and service network covers more than 1,000 locations and is one of the biggest organisations in the automobile import sector. Besides regional distribution partners, the Motor Village represents the brands of the group in the Rhein Main area.
